As a Film Editing Support Trainee at Career.zycto, you will be an integral part of our creative team, working alongside seasoned editors and post-production specialists in our Kelsey-Woodlawn studio. This entry-level position is designed to provide comprehensive training and hands-on experience in various aspects of film editing support, preparing you for a successful career in the industry.
You will gain invaluable insight into professional workflows, asset management, and the technical intricacies of modern editing suites. Your primary goal will be to assist our lead editors in preparing projects, organizing footage, and ensuring all necessary assets are readily available and properly cataloged. This involves tasks such as logging raw footage, creating proxy files, synchronizing audio and video, and performing initial cuts or assembling b-roll sequences under direct supervision.
We are looking for someone with an insatiable curiosity for film, a keen eye for detail, and a strong desire to learn the craft from the ground up. You’ll be exposed to industry-standard software like Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, and DaVinci Resolve, learning their functionalities and best practices directly from experts. Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead editors with project setup, organization, and media management.
- Log, transcode, and synchronize raw footage (audio and video).
- Create proxy files and other necessary formats for efficient editing.
- Organize and label digital assets, ensuring proper cataloging and archiving.
- Perform basic editing tasks such as assembling b-roll, string-outs, or initial cuts under supervision.
- Provide technical support for editing workstations and related equipment.
- Learn and apply company best practices for file naming conventions and workflow efficiency.
- Research and gather supplementary materials like stock footage or music as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized editing suite.
- Actively participate in feedback sessions and commit to continuous learning.
Required Skills
- Strong passion for film, video production, and post-production.
